Are Termite Bait Stations Worth It? The Answer Will Surprise You!

Are termite bait stations worth it?

When it comes to termite control there are a number of factors to consider. Sadly, most homeowners never even think about termites until they discover they have them in their home. By this point, there is usually hundreds, even thousands of dollars of damage. In fact, it is estimated that termites cause up to 5 BILLION dollars in damages every year! That level of damage is in line with large scale natural disasters such as hurricanes. To make matters worse, homeowners insurance does NOT cover Termite damage! For this reason, the BEST time to implement a solid termite control strategy is the day you moved into your home. The second best time is today!

As Ben Franklin once said, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”

We would wholeheartedly agree, especially when dealing with termites! There are various aspects of a solid termite control strategy, especially depending on the type of termites you are dealing with… subterranean, formosan, drywood? Each type has strategies that can be used to control and eliminate them. The first step is to have a thorough termite inspection, also known as a WDO Inspection performed by a licensed professional. “WDO” simply stands for “Wood Destroying Organism”. This inspection is crucial to determining if you currently have any termite activity in your dwelling and if so, what types and what course of treatment to follow.

At this point, many homeowners are presented with “Termite bait stations” as a solution to their problem by well meaning articles online or pest control companies. But you have to ask yourself “are termite bait stations worth it?” The answer sadly is NO! While termite bait stations are considered one of the cheapest and easiest forms of termite control, the facts tell a different story!

A Termite bait station is simply a small device that is installed in your yard. It contains food particles such as wood, paper, or cardboard meant to attract termites. These food particles are laced with a poison that, in theory, should kill the termites! But in the real world, this is not often the case.

There are a number of factors that cause termite bait stations to fail:

  • They are typically installed in your yard 10-20 feet apart, leaving too much space between them. This makes them less likely to be discovered.
  • They need to be checked often to ensure there is still bait in them.
  • They can be easily damaged or destroyed (lawn mowers, kids playing, pets, weather, etc)
  • The poison they contain isn’t highly effective because it must be carried back to the colony.

IF your bait station survives those factors then MAYBE it could work… but do you really want to invest your money and risk your home on a “MAYBE” that big? We didn’t think so!

This is where Termidor products come in. Rather than installing termite bait stations that require constant maintenance and are ineffective, we treat your soil with Termidor. This undetectable poison is the best in the business and produces outstanding results when applied to your soil!

What Is Termidor? It’s The Best Termite Prevention Available!

Termidor “Termiticide / Insecticide” is considered America’s #1 Termite Defense! When termites are discovered in your home, the technician will decide which Termidor product treatment will work best for your particular situation. Even better, when no termites are discovered, Termidor will help ensure you won’t have any in the future either. Not only does Termidor kill termites when they eat it, but it also kills them through contact as well. They can’t see, smell, or taste it, so any contact with it at all will ensure they die. This “dual action” sets Termidor apart from competing products, making it the best termite bait station poison available.

However, it is the Termidor “transfer effect” that really elevates its usefulness and effectiveness. When a termite ingests or touches Termidor it becomes a carrier transferring it to other termites it contacts. These in turn do the same, causing the swift spread of the poison among them. This makes Termidor is far more effective than your typical “Termite repellant”, which termites can see and avoid easily. Termidor is silent, odorless, tasteless, and transfers on contact making it one of the best termiticides on the market today!

How Long Does Termidor Last?

Termidor has stood the test of time. It has proven its reliability among pest professionals as a product for over 10 years and counting. While Termidor products can easily last 8-10 years as far as effectiveness goes, you should still have it reapplied regularly. This is why asking “How long does Termidor last” won’t give you the full answer. Due to weather and any number of external factors, the termite “barrier” Termidor creates around your home can become compromised. When you purchase an annual Termite Policy with us, we handle all of this for you, giving you peace of mind knowing your home is safe! Plus our Termite Policy’s come with our 1 Million dollar termite guarantee!

Is Termidor Safe For Pets?

You might be thinking “This sounds great, but is Termidor safe for pets?” The great news is that not only is Termidor made with the latest technology available, but it is also formulated with your family, pets, and the environment in mind! This means that Termidor is pet safe when used as directed on the product label and applied by a licensed professional. Termidor uses uncompromising standards in its formulation and application methodologies. It is virtually odor free and won’t cause any disruptions to your family’s routines. Because it is not a petroleum based product it won’t harm nearby plants either, making it an excellent choice to keep your home and your family safe from termites!
